E-government is develop by government agencies though IT and e-commerce's such as Wide Area Networks, the Internet, and mobile computing that transform the relations with citizens, businesses, and other arms of government.

The purpose of the E- government is to improve the convenience, accessibility and quality of interactions with citizens and businesses.Besides, it also increased government accountability to citizens, greater public access to information, and cost-effective government. At the same time, it also will improve information flows and processes within government to improve the speed and quality of policy development, coordination and enforcement. The main vision is focuses on effectively and efficiently when deliver the services from the government to the people of Malaysia, and also enabling the government to become more responsive to the needs and wants of its citizens.

Implementation

The users of the E-government can gain a lot of the benefits though the online services, such as payment of income tax, online voting, and license renewal online. It's can increase the effectiveness of the process transaction. Consumers would not willing to spend 1 hour just for the payment at government department such as compound payment and taxes. E- government is very convenience for the internet users because they only need few second to click on www.gov.com.my and help us to solve our problems through internet.

Meanwhile,E-government is very useful but still need to improve because its not only benefits to the internet users, its should benefit to all of the people in Malaysia. Therefore, E-government should develop some website that easy excess and provide multilingual site to the users. I believe E-government will be widely adopted by Malaysian in near future.

There are 7 main pilot projects of the Electronic Government Flagship Application and it is list out as follows:

1) Project Monitoring System (SPP II)

2) Human Resource Management Information System(HRMIS)

3) Generic Office Environment (GOE)

4) Electronic Procurement (EP)

5) Electronic Services (E-Services)

6) Electronic Labour Exchange (ELX)

7) E-Syariah

Citizen's Adoption Strategies

The purpose of the E-government is to provide citizens with accessible, relevant information and quality services that are more convenience than traditional ' brick and mortar' transactions. Citizen citizens’ willingness to adopt and utilize these services are depend to their self-confident to e- transaction. Generally, citizens are expect governmental services with a high degree of quality, quantity, and availability in a 24-hour, seven-days-a-week, and year-round fashion. Government must try their capacity to meet these emerging service needs and demands of citizens to increase the customer satisfaction. This is very important because success and acceptance of e-Government are highly dependent on citizen.

Other than that, each of the purchase or withdrawal, funds are drawn down either from a bank account or from a prepaid balance on the card, it will link to the bank account .While, pre-paid cash card is a card that only spends the balance that has been preloaded onto the card.It is not involve the bank account. The prepaid cash card which have the Visa, MasterCard and discovers logos, act like portable checking accounts, though they are replenished with deposits made at retail outlets rather than banks. It means there is no risk of running into debt as it has no credit or overdraft facility.

When purchase the pre-paid cash card, we will be given a Pin number , and once money has been credited, it can be used in the same way as a debit or credit card – for high street, online or telephone purchases, as well as cash withdrawals from ATMs.

Money can be loaded onto a prepaid cash card by cash at a petrol station, post office and some of the book store as if popular.

Besides, pre-paid cash card can give a lot of advantage to consumers' in their daily life.

  1. Convenience
It is convenience when the consumer is buying something that not using the cash. They can pay the payment using the pre-paid cash card. Consumers only need to bring a pre-paid cash card rather than bring thousands of the money to purchased their product. Thus, consumers only need to wait a few section to finish the payment process. After that, the payment will automaticaly deduct from the balance. It is convenience and save time.

2. Personal safety

Recently, the crime rate is climbing up, for instance, the snapping cases in town. We should not bring a large stack of money to shopping, especially withdraw huge amount of money from ATM. We easily become the target. Therefore, prepaid cash card can help us to reduce the risk and enhance the safety.

3. Self control

As we know, women like to shopping. They like to buy stuff without further consideration. They would rather just buy the item and ignore the price stated at price tag. If they holding a prepaid card, they have no choice but think twice before purchase stuff. A discussion on E-learning offered in Malaysian Universities

12:57 PM / Posted by BEN-T1-G3 / comments (4)

E-learning is the use of technology to enable people to learn anytime and anywhere that include training, the delivering just-in-time information and guidance from the experts. In other words, E-learning is the modern process of education where part of the learning experience takes place without face to face communication between the lecturer and the students. It is also known as distance learning.

E-learning was begun in the late of 1980's in Malaysia. One of the universit, MARA University of Technology is offering distance learning in 1990 but it was not successful due to lack of resources. On December 1998 was the first launched of e-learning system, 70 students enrolled by the time has increases up to 2,000 in 2006. Futhermore, there are more and more universities had moved to e-learning such as Universiti Putra Malaysia(UPM), Malaysia Institute of Management, Open University Malaysia, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia(UTM) and others. However, there are pros and cons of e-learning.

PROS :-

From the student's perspectives, e-learning not only save the cost of travelling but it also save the time of traavelling. This can reduce the family budget. They can reduce the cost of living and expenses for those students are study apart from their hometown. Besides that, e-learning allows students to get the teaching materials and any other recources through e-libraries.

Another pros of e-learning is its time flexibility. One can get online resources, communicate with his/her tutor or even classmates, send his query and writing the term paper at anytime and anywhere with the use of the Internet. It is much easier for them to interact between each other rather than face-to-face communications.

Moreover, e-learning students may have the capability to study on their own space. Unlike traditional setting, e-learning students can study whenever they're free and the online faculty assigns project with a deadline and student can finish their projects at the time they find feasible within the particular deadline.

CONS :-

On the other hand, there are some drawbacks in using e-learning. One of the biggest arguments about e-learning is that it makes students lazy and ineffective, due to being spoon fed by the educational institutions. With e-learning, most of the educational task is done either by the tutor or some sophisticated software, leaving students with simple task of just downloading the notes and reading them. Although this may make the learning much more easier, it may runs the risk of creating independant and lazy students. When these students graduate and enter the working society, they tend to expect all the information to be delivered to them too. Since these students are used to be spoon fed, they become cripples in the working environment and unable to move forward without constant help from others.

However, e-learning will lead to lack of face-to-face communication between students and lecturer, and this will cause to some misunderstanding and conflict may arise. Lecturers may not understand student's needs, demand, interest and motivation and while for the students, they may not really know lecturers wants and requirement for his/her student as well. This may lose the students directions and get confused on the course of activities.

As a conclusion, e-learning will bring advantages and disadvantages to the students. Therefore, solutions are needed to overcome those problems.

Phishing: Examples of its prevention methods

7:05 AM / Posted by BEN-T1-G3 / comments (0)

Phishing is a criminal mechanism employing both social engineering and technical subterfuge to steal consumers’ personal identity data and financial account credentials. Thus, phishing also is an act of sending an
e-mail to a user falsely claiming to be an established legitimate enterprise in an attempt to scam the user into surrendering private information that will be used for identity theft. The e-mail directs the user to visit a website where they are asked to update personal information, such as passwords and credit card, social security, and bank account numbers.

How does phishing works?

Sometimes, we will received the email that make us confuse and think that someone has changed our email address and requests us confirm the changes. Again, it sends us the fake website for us to login to eBay .The purpose is to obtain eBay ID’s which then are used to sell fake or non-existent goods or such accounts can be sold further in the underground market.Other than that
, phishing e-mails can appear to be from any bank, PayPal, eBay, credit card companies, and online retail store...

Examples

Preventions

  1. Give a fake password

When we are not sure if a site is authentic, we do not use our real password to sign in. If you enter a fake password and appear to be signed in, you are likely on a phishing site. Besides,we do not enter any more information and close the browser immediately. Thus, some of the phishing sites will automatically display an error message when we login the fake password, but we also cant assume that site is legitimate. This is the tactics of the phisher.

2.Installing Internet Explorer 7 and Microsoft Phishing Filter

We should install Internet Explorer 7, which includes the Microsoft Phishing Filter to help protect our personal data theft by warning or blocking our information from reported to phishing Web sites. Furthermore,Internet Explorer 7 can also provide anothers protection when we are visit the websites that use Extended Validation (EV) SSL Certificates. The Internet Explorer address bar turns green to alert you that there is more information available about Web sites. The identity of the Web site owner is also displayed on the address bar.

Green address-bar

An EV SSL certificate not only helps ensure that the communication with a Web site is secure, but the certificate also includes information about the owner of the Web site, which has been identified by the Certification Authority (CA) issuing the SSL Certificate.

3. Never ever click the links within the text of the e-mail.

When we received the e- mail that we unknown,we should not click the following links to view. If we really want view that particular links, we can open in new windows or new tab.Besides, We can also ignore or delete the e-mail that we unknown.
This will prevent "accidental" clicks from happening as well.

I am reviewing on the lelong.com.my. It is a local, transactional e-commerce site most popular in Malaysia. It provides many services such as auction, selling, buying and open new e-shop. It also may choose the language that users prefer such as english, chinese or bahasa melayu. It is a success online marketplace in Malaysia. It has more than 3 million of transaction each month. It has more than 1 million customers. It also build a forum for the exchange of information among buyers and sellers in lelong.com.my.

The basic function provided by lelong.com.my as if ebay. Users can register an account to post some picture to sell things. Lelong.com.my only charges the small amount of money from Rm0.30 to Rm3 according to different types of selling process. For buyer, the wide range of items offered in well organized categories ease the buying process. Lelong.com.my also provides open store function that helps seller to create their own online store even they don't have programming knowledge. Only few simple clicks can create a new store with only RM168 per year. Besides that, lelong.com.my also allow users to put their banner in the lelong.com.my website.

Lelong.com.my also provides safe trade service. Lelong.com.my will keep the money of buyers until get instruction from buyer to release the money to seller. This can prevent fraud transaction that easily occurs in virtual marketplace.
Lelong.com.my suits the style of local in Malaysia. Although it success, it should keep on improve on service or the process of transaction to capture more users.

A Review On a Post On E-tailing from My E-Commerce blog

10:47 PM / Posted by BEN-T1-G3 / comments (0)

I am reading the "Using Touch n Go card to buy fast food in Malaysia will be a reality." Touch n Go in going to expand its application to 21 fast food outlets such as A&W, Burger King, Dunkin Donuts, 7-eleven, Caltex and others.

It is a good point to expand the application of Touch n Go into others industry instead only transportation as if Octopus Card in Hong Kong but i found out that Touch n Go card not really fully penetrate its market into transportation industry. In the public bus, they are still using manual collection of money from customers. The Touch n Go machine is not functioning. Other than that, there only few LRT station can reload the Touch n Go card. It is uncovenient for customers. The service level of Touch n Go still in not enough if compare to EZ-Link of Singapore. Therefore i see no reason for Touch n Go to shift from transportation industry to fast-food industry when the service level still low in current serving area.

Futhermore, if Touch n Go wants to shift into fast-food industry, KFC, Mcdonald and Pizzahut should be their first priority cooperate partners in the list. These are three major fast-food pionners with huge numbers of outlets that bring conveneint to Touch n Go users. According to Notion Master, Mcdonalds already have 139 outlets in Malaysia. Coorperate with these pioneers will benefits many users of Touch n Go as well as customers of these fast-food outlet.

Touch n Go should appreciates their core competitive advantage and improve service level.I strongly recommend Touch n Go to remain at transportation industry to improve its services hence build better foundation. As increment of popular of the usage Touch n Go card in transportation industry will benefit it when it wants to have next move in future.
